I found it !

This was the song that I’d heard way back. It used to be played daily on National Network many years back- you know i woud love to see this classical composition almost daily . All these years, I’ve had the tune right at the tip of my tongue, but I never quite managed to find it anywhere. The lyrics I remembered were in tamil sung by  BalamuraliKrishna who comes in middle of the song and also i remembered the celebrities in the song. I googled and googled but didn't find it. Finally when i was hearing CWG theme in you tube i looked for some more National Integrity related videos. Finally to my surprise i found this song "mile sur mera tumara.."     .

To listen to the song click here .

Signing of now...cya latr.

Wait

Guys
As usual...Been ages since my previous post, again the similar kind of statement whenever i blog after a long time .Tried to start off couple of posts but it got stacked in drafts folder or i got bored eventually. Even if i had lot of information to share it was in bits and pieces and finally decided to write a post today .

Had been involved seriously in studies or placement preparation..?The honest answer is NO.Then what was i doing these days..?. A handful of days involved in collecting Journals and studying them for the review of final year project that i must do as a part of curriculum this year.

Okay....then, some days elapsed by editing videos-about pollution for Environmental Science class. Although i'm not a PRO in making videos the support i got from my friends made me do a better video. The appreciations i got from my friends made me forget the sleepless nights i worked for learning those softwares. i would like to really thank my friend Balaganesh for giving lot of ideas and supporting me for doing videos which made me explore more tools in those softwares.

Some days were quite enjoyable and some were blur but i gained lot of experience the past twenty odd days. Also i got some suggestions to improve myself from my friend Manisangeeth and other days went on as  another day following regular iterations.

Well ...I dint know how many of you noticed this..?. SOE crossed 500 hits.Nearly 290 visitors have seen in the past 20 days.Hope I could add a couple of posts every week.

Yay....i'm 20 :)

Woo...I turned 20 this Wednesday and i'm no more a teen....some birthdays are  memorable, some birthdays go just like every other day with same iterations but this time it was totally different and really unforgettable.I consider myself fortunate enough that i've got loads of friends to wish on my birthday....began at midnight with wishes from my parents,my best buddies at college & school and then from almost everyone who knows me on this world.
To tell the truth i've never celebrated a birthday like this before. The day was really eventful....Why this birthday was so special to me..?maybe this is the last birthday i'm gonna celebrate in my college life.Early in the day i got some heavy 'friendly' pats on my back, that would surely make anyone remember the day...!!!.some of my pals from college brought a lip-smacking cake and the whole class turned up when i cut the cake.Really cakes are the best part of birthdays and makes the occasion special. The cake disappeared in no time and the guys added  flavor to my face with the delicious cake.My friends presented me a wonderful liquid flow shirt which looked simply awesome...and, yes i would like to thank all my pals for all the wonderful surprises. So its been a long day with so much fun and lot of fruitful happenings occur during these days that makes the day memorable :)
On the flip side when i think of those malnourished, underprivileged  children...will they celebrate  their birthdays with a pie of cake...?No,and there are many who don't even know the day they were born. Birthdays mean different to different classes of people...this makes me think a lot. How can i make it meaningful and significant...?Finally ,from my next birthday i decided to go to some old-age homes or orphanages and provide them quality food at least on my birthday. So guys think how well can you make your special day beautiful...?.
New beginning with new promises and this time some more responsibilities added to my shoulders.Hope everything goes well this year as they say 'ALL IZ WELL'.

ON DUTY...!

Guys ,
Not posted for a while now. A bit busy during this week....doing what.? working with a short movie regarding exploitation of land and forest resources to display during Environmental Science class, searching for solutions to execute my project idea, getting to know about higher study options both in India and abroad and some other useless activities added to the account during these days as well.

Meanwhile, a  Science fair is going to be conducted in our college as a part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations by college management at the end of this month.Whenever symposiums or any other such events are conducted ,being a reliable student (trust me - i'm such a kind..!)  i'll be usually assigned with some work. I would accept those assignments mainly for two reasons. One,to develop my Organizing and Leadership skills and Two,to get OD's(On Duty) and escape from boring classes .The solid cause most of us prefer is Two and I just get On Duties for the sake of doing the jobs allocated to me and also to escape from classes . OD's are not new for me,Indeed they are bonded with me from the day I entered college.

In the previous years of study we need to get a OD letter from the HOD and produce it to concerned staff, but this time the scenario was quite different ;even staff were On Duty for most of the lecture hours and even if they are present they don't ask for such letters. I've not even completely attended  one hour of lecture a day in this week  and most days the count  was NIL. Now a days even OD's are getting bored than lectures,so I decided not to take OD's anymore..(subject to change based on lecture hours..!)

One would say you can sleep or roam outside freely as you wish when you are On Duty.  But when you spend the whole day whiling away your time and just lazing around-thereby the laziness spreads to all activities you are involved with;even in your interactions with people; It doesn't make you happy at the end of the day.

The Final has started

Well .....Finally its the final  year of engineering. This academic year started quite differently.. It wasnt the usual stuff. It was people discussing about placement scenario..... CAT & GATE classes.......and also we are up with some feeling  that we had entered final year but there was nothing changed only but the subjects.Having chosen Engineering most of us have only two choices...Either placement or get to some good college for higher studies.
Some are really working hard for placements in reputed companies.....it would be a really good to see people coming dressed up in formals.....The aptitude test....Lot of eyes scanning the results to see their name shortlisted....The Interview.....The smiles, the wishes, the disappointment, the re-assuring pat from a true friend saying that there are more companies yet to come ....A nice feeling to be a part of all this.

And some opt for higher studies and are seriously  preparing for their respective exams .... but actually higher studies was not my stand right now and it is also a good feeling to watch those guys from the other end of the fence and back them up to do well.

Fine....As the saying," Well begun is half done",I am awaiting for the rest of this year.. Its gonna be a mixture of hard work, fun and lot of emotions and I am eager to make this final year, the 'FINALE' as you say, as unforgettable as it have been, for the past 3 years....

What to learn from Cricket

Cricket,a religion more than a game in India. From my childhood i'm pretty much bounded with cricket either playing or watching it on TV while India or whatever country plays. In India people are only concerned with book oriented  education which teaches the formulas and equations which are not going to be used anywhere in practical life. Quite a lot of people say that i waste good deal of time watching and playing cricket. But think what one can learn from cricket or any other sport...? Here are some points which came across my mind.
  • Teamwork
  • Chase a goal with Passion
  • Discipline
  • Focus
  • Determination
Sports teaches them all these, not a one day lecture about teamwork would do. If you are going to play in a team of  the 11,you can learn how to adapt or mingle with people, you know what a teamwork is & you know how to reach your goal.So now you decide who will be more successful in life, the one who knows all the equation and formula or the one who is disciplined, focussed and good at teamwork.

Ideas for posting blogs

Guys,
This week started quite interestingly with some aptitude,Logical reasoning and other such kind of stuff related to placement. Some may really think that how come this stupid say these kind of activities will be interesting..?But the thing is whenever we fix a activity to be interesting it becomes automatically more stimulating than you expect......yeah everything lies in our mind ,the similar case of "ALL is WELL".Okay back to the topic....After my previous post about "What to write...?,I found some valuable advices over various sites in the internet about writing in a blog.I have listed some of them briefly.

Respond to something elsewhere on the web: the best way to start blogging simply link to something elsewhere that you feel is interesting, or (better) that you disagree with.

Suggest an idea: for a story or for a way of doing things. Invite reaction and suggestions – and don’t expect people to come to you: approach people you might otherwise be shy of asking, and invite them to respond on the comments. Ideas can travel very far, so can be very effective in attracting readers.

Blog an event: attend a relevant event – a conference, meeting, public talk, demonstration, or even just a conversation – and write about it.  Ambitious bloggers can use liveblogging tool CoveritLive for live blogging.

Ask a question: this typically only works once you’ve established a readership and generated goodwill by contributing yourself on your blog and in comments on other blogs, or if it’s for a worthy cause. But it can be very effective in generating useful information.

Pick a fight: many bloggers attempt to generate traffic by loudly criticising another (popular) blogger in the hope that they’ll respond and generate traffic from their readers. This sort of tactic is often referred to as ‘link-baiting’ – in other words, if the criticised blogger responds (takes the bait) it generally means links to your blog. You can also pick a fight with a company or brand, and mount a campaign to instigate change.

Reflect on something: it might be something that happened to you this week, a decision or choice that you made, a lead for a story, or anything else. Why did it happen? What are the implications? What did you learn? Keep it open so others can contribute their experiences or insights.

Do something visual: take photographs and/or video footage as you travel along a particular route. Explain them, ask questions, include relevant links. Or draw sketches and photograph them.

Review something: try to make it useful – include links to further information, quote from (and link to) other reviewers.

Make a list: Lists are enormously popular on the web, frequently topping websites’ ‘most shared’ lists. It may be anything from ‘5 ways to tie a knot’ to ‘The 100 best albums by women’. A good tip for your first post is to make a list of the top 10 blogs in your subject area – a useful task for yourself while also making them aware of your existence.

Write a how-to: in his book Click, Bill Tancer notes how one of the most popular types of search query is ‘How do I..?’ or ‘Why do..?’ Tutorials also frequently top websites ‘most-shared’ lists and can be enormously useful in generating goodwill in your sphere – not to mention attracting comments that then add to and improve your knowledge of the subject.

Let someone else post: if you find someone with particular expertise or experience, invite them to write a ‘guest post’ on a particular subject. Even if they already have their own blog, they will probably appreciate the opportunity to reach a new audience, or to write in a different context, and again it will improve your own knowledge.

Well....need to finish of this longest post. Hope I've got some important points on how to write a blog..?(yay i've implemented the penultimate idea listed above).I also request you guys to start a blog and enjoy the blogging experience.

What to write..?

Hmm what to write..?This s the question tat knocks my brain every time i enter into my dashboard. It's really tough as a beginner in writing blogs. Though its easy for me to collect some new and interesting stuff over internet and compile it over here but when it comes to writing my experiences or opinions I'm havin a ..what they call ,hmm.....a writer’s block, without even being a writer.Well I'm not a big nerd and honestly speaking, i don’t know what  i’m gonna write over here, but i’ll surely give a bit of everything as they say ”Jack of All Trades …”.

Find Invisible Users on Gmail/Gtalk

Hey guys
This post gives you all details on how to find a invisible user in Gmail/Gtalk.Most of us remain invisible in most of IM clients. However you can be identified by following the steps provided below.
  • Set the chat as off the record with target user . This can be done only when the other user is online.

  1.  Click the link in the bottom of the chat window.
  2.  Select Go off the record.

    • Now try sending chat to that user when he is invisible or offline.
    • If if he Is offline, then you will receive the following error “username did not receive your chat”.
    • But if he is invisible, then he will receive your chat (no red colored error message appears).
    How it Workz..?

    • Generally when you send a chat message  to a user while he is offline, your chat message will go to inbox as a mail.
    • But When a chat is set off the record, it will no longer get stored in your Gmail account. So When you send a chat message to offline or invisible user, it gets delivered directly in the chat window by default. At receiving end if user is online, a chat screen pops up showing him your message.
Thus you can find your friends who are in invisible mode in Gtalk or Google Talk desktop clients/gadgets or any third party IM client.

    Increase your Bandwidth

For Dial-up users it would be really frustrating while surfing and also those who use broadband would not get full download speed as expected. So here is a Trick to improve the bandwidth of your connection by 20%[tested only in XP].By default Windows reserves 20% of your bandwidth for their own purposes (suspect for updates and interrogating your machine etc..)

Here's how to get it back:

    • Click Start-->Run-->type "gpedit.msc" without the "
    • This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:Local Computer Policy-->Computer Configuration-->Administrative Templates-->Network-->QOS Packet Scheduler-->Limit Reservable Bandwidth
    • Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab :
    • "By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
    • So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO.

Its done. Now the bandwidth is increased by 20%.

    What is Torrent?

Last week my friend Jacob asked me "what is a torrent? and how it works...?".I didn't know much about it though I've downloaded bunch of movies. To manage the situation i just told something that i know about torrents .After reaching home i myself got lot of questions about torrents. Then i googled it and found more information about it.Then i compiled all the necessary info and sent to his personal mail. Thanks to Jacob for making me know about torrents. Here is the compilation

BitTorrent is a peer-to-peer file transfer protocol. It is a way to easily share large files online without a centralized server. It works by using multiple hosts (called seeds) that combine their upload bandwidth to provide clients (called peers, leeches) with download bandwidth. In addition, peers that have downloaded a portion of the file will upload the part they have already downloaded to take the load off of the seeds so the seeds can seed the parts of the file that haven't made it into the others (the group is sometimes called a swarm). Leeches are peers who do not upload, they're called leeches because they don't contribute their own bandwidth, instead they just leech off of the peers and seeds.

A torrent file (.torrent) is what you download from torrent sites. Torrent sites don't actually host any of the content, all of the content is hosted by seeds in the BitTorrent network. The .torrent file simply provides enough information for a torrent client (a program like uTorrent) to connect to the appropriate seeds to download the file(s) in the torrent.

Some torrents use "trackers", centralized servers that keep track of seeds' IP addresses, allowing torrents to quickly connect to known seeds with just a simple connection to the tracker. However, as trackers are being attacked , many torrents have switched to DHT, an alternative system that uses no centralized server or tracker.

Torrents are used to download files, they can be anything but mostly are used for larger files. Torrents are often used to help reduce the load on central servers (for instance, Linux distributions are usually distributed by torrents because the high demand would crash conventional servers). Torrents have also become widespread in file sharing. They have started to replace older peer-to-peer applications such as LimeWire as the preferred method for downloading movies, music, software, etc. as it is a more robust system, makes it easier to copy multiple files or large files together, and is harder for government spies to track.Torrents work in a fashion very much similar to local network's file and printer sharing.

The first stage is creating a torrent. This must be done the first time by someone. Most Bit Torrent clients allow you to create a torrent. Basically you should gather all your files in one folder (preferable) and create a torrent file out of it. You must specify a tracker for the same. Once the .torrent file is created you can upload this .torrent file to any torrent masters such as mininove, piratebay, etc.

The next step is to load this torrent file in the torrent client (e.g. uTorrent) and it starts seeding.

Anyone looking for the specific file (inside the torrent) or the torrent itself will hit the torrent site thru google search and download the .torrent file. He/she will then load the torrent in the client and the torrent starts downloading - with you being the peer/seed and the other person being the peer/leach.

Over a period of time the torrent contents are downloaded by many and all become eventual seeds. By this time, because of the increased number of seeds, the torrent download speeds also increase.

The contents of the torrent are dividede by piece. The torrent into many pieces of equal size (256KB to 1 MB being most common). Any seeding or downlaoding is done piec tracker keeps track of what piece is owned by who. This way, piece by piece, the torrent contents are downloaded until all the pieces are with you. Once done, the torrent client automatically shifts the mode from 'downloading' to 'seeding'.

    Terminologies used in Torrents

    # Leeches - People who download files but do not share files on their own computer with others
    # Seed or seeder - A computer with a complete copy of a BitTorrent file (At least one seedcomputer is necessary for a BitTorrent download to operate.)
    # Swarm - A group of computers simultaneously sending (uploading) or receiving (downloading) the same file
    # .torrent - A pointer file that directs your computer to the file you want to download
    # Tracker - A server that manages the BitTorrent file-transfer process

    Ways to improve Attitude

I found this article on a website while i was surfing during my leisure. In my view the article was  really motivating ( atleast while reading it) .So jus read and post ur comments about the article.

    1. Own your attitude. You attitude belongs to you and nobody else. Stop blaming others and be accountable for who you are and how you behave.
    2. Expect great things. Don’t settle for second best. The old programmers mantra, “garbage in, garbage out,” holds a lot of truth. If you think you’re going to fail, it’s likely to happen. Start by thinking positively about where you want to go.
    3. Use positive affirmations. Tell yourself every day that you are an outstanding person capable of achieving your goals. Have a routine where you regularly work to boost your self confidence. Carry the affirmations with you in a notebook, journal or on index cards. Take time to review them, particularly when self-doubt is hammering away at you. Reach higher.
    4. Picture success. Your subconscious mind operates on images and pictures. Before you go to sleep, picture your ideal day. What are you doing? What are you wearing? Who are you with? See and feel yourself in this moment as a huge success. Do you want a new house, job or relationship? Imagine it as if it already happened.
    5. Define your goals. Your subconscious mind grabs on to defined and written goals. List three short-term and three long-term goals. Set a deadline for each goal and outline the steps you will take to reach your goals.
    6. Focus and work. Successful people do not spend hours in front of the television, gossiping around the water cooler, or any other negative behaviour. You can tell from the sale of lottery tickets just how many people think success is based on luck. Success takes hard work. Get started.
    7. Model the success of others. Look at people you admire. What are their personality traits and values? Learn from their example. Also, surround yourself with like-minded, success-oriented people.
    8. Share your success. Possibly the best way to build and maintain a good attitude is by sharing with others. I don’t know how many times, at the end of a tough work day, doing something with or for others has boosted my attitude. Whether a choir practice, visiting someone in hospital or having coffee with friends, time spent with others can have a positive impact on my state of mind.
