ON DUTY...!

Guys ,
Not posted for a while now. A bit busy during this week....doing what.? working with a short movie regarding exploitation of land and forest resources to display during Environmental Science class, searching for solutions to execute my project idea, getting to know about higher study options both in India and abroad and some other useless activities added to the account during these days as well.

Meanwhile, a  Science fair is going to be conducted in our college as a part of Silver Jubilee Celebrations by college management at the end of this month.Whenever symposiums or any other such events are conducted ,being a reliable student (trust me - i'm such a kind..!)  i'll be usually assigned with some work. I would accept those assignments mainly for two reasons. One,to develop my Organizing and Leadership skills and Two,to get OD's(On Duty) and escape from boring classes .The solid cause most of us prefer is Two and I just get On Duties for the sake of doing the jobs allocated to me and also to escape from classes . OD's are not new for me,Indeed they are bonded with me from the day I entered college.

In the previous years of study we need to get a OD letter from the HOD and produce it to concerned staff, but this time the scenario was quite different ;even staff were On Duty for most of the lecture hours and even if they are present they don't ask for such letters. I've not even completely attended  one hour of lecture a day in this week  and most days the count  was NIL. Now a days even OD's are getting bored than lectures,so I decided not to take OD's anymore..(subject to change based on lecture hours..!)

One would say you can sleep or roam outside freely as you wish when you are On Duty.  But when you spend the whole day whiling away your time and just lazing around-thereby the laziness spreads to all activities you are involved with;even in your interactions with people; It doesn't make you happy at the end of the day.

The Final has started

Well .....Finally its the final  year of engineering. This academic year started quite differently.. It wasnt the usual stuff. It was people discussing about placement scenario..... CAT & GATE classes.......and also we are up with some feeling  that we had entered final year but there was nothing changed only but the subjects.Having chosen Engineering most of us have only two choices...Either placement or get to some good college for higher studies.
Some are really working hard for placements in reputed companies.....it would be a really good to see people coming dressed up in formals.....The aptitude test....Lot of eyes scanning the results to see their name shortlisted....The Interview.....The smiles, the wishes, the disappointment, the re-assuring pat from a true friend saying that there are more companies yet to come ....A nice feeling to be a part of all this.

And some opt for higher studies and are seriously  preparing for their respective exams .... but actually higher studies was not my stand right now and it is also a good feeling to watch those guys from the other end of the fence and back them up to do well.

Fine....As the saying," Well begun is half done",I am awaiting for the rest of this year.. Its gonna be a mixture of hard work, fun and lot of emotions and I am eager to make this final year, the 'FINALE' as you say, as unforgettable as it have been, for the past 3 years....

What to learn from Cricket

Cricket,a religion more than a game in India. From my childhood i'm pretty much bounded with cricket either playing or watching it on TV while India or whatever country plays. In India people are only concerned with book oriented  education which teaches the formulas and equations which are not going to be used anywhere in practical life. Quite a lot of people say that i waste good deal of time watching and playing cricket. But think what one can learn from cricket or any other sport...? Here are some points which came across my mind.
  • Teamwork
  • Chase a goal with Passion
  • Discipline
  • Focus
  • Determination
Sports teaches them all these, not a one day lecture about teamwork would do. If you are going to play in a team of  the 11,you can learn how to adapt or mingle with people, you know what a teamwork is & you know how to reach your goal.So now you decide who will be more successful in life, the one who knows all the equation and formula or the one who is disciplined, focussed and good at teamwork.
